The official first day of autumn is September 22nd and with it comes a world of new ways to have fun with your kids!
Whether you’re a care professional or a host parent, fall is a fantastic time of year to get out and play. Here are a few ideas to help you make the most of this season.
Create an imaginary world with fallen leaves.
Raking leaves and jumping in the pile is a classic autumnal activity and for good reason – it never gets old! Take time to play pretend with your kids while you enjoy gathering leaves in your yard or the local park. Maybe they like to imagine they’re in their favorite movie or discovering a new world. Whatever it is, join them on their level and enjoy the fresh air and crisp temperatures that fall brings!
Visit a pumpkin patch or an apple orchard.
Another tried and true way to spend time this season is by visiting your local pumpkin patch or apple orchard. Maybe you have a favorite one already – if not, spend a few minutes doing some research online and you’re bound to find countless options. Spend a day as a family enjoying all that these local businesses have to offer. If you have the flexibility, it’s even better to visit during the weekday when the crowds are smaller.
Participate in a family photo shoot.
The hues of fall are the perfect backdrop for a family photo shoot, even if it’s an informal one with your cell phone! Cute photos of the kids posing outdoors is a great gift for care professionals to give host parents and vice versa. Use leaves, pumpkins, and apples as props and get a good mix of planned and in the moment images.
